Stop by the referee table any time you have questions about your game or something you saw, need supplies, or just want to hang out. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the company of other referees. We like to have you there!
We are always looking for referees who are interested in reffing the Extra and upper division (U16, U19) games. Please let us know if you want to help out with these high level, very exciting games.
If you have any questions or problems, Linda Powers, our Regional Referee Administrator can be reached at refereeadmin@ayso32.org
Referee Schedule -
Please sign up to referee games at least 2 days prior to game day. You can do this by going to http://cgisports.com/ref/5123/. Register as a referee if you haven't already and provide the information on the team/s that will receive credit for your games.
- As a referee, you can only give your points to a team that you are directly affiliated with unless you let the referee staff know the team's information before that division's first game
- The benefits to signing up in advance on line are significant.
- There will be no errors in awarding points - the referee staff won't have to try to decipher hand writing or try to figure out your player's team number
- We will have assurance that games are covered and will minimize scrambling at the last minute
- With the increase in point requirements, you can guarantee that you will be able to get the points your team needs
- Knowing your assignment in advance will mean that you won't be waiting around at the fields for an opportunity to referee
Get A New Referee
Every team is encouraged, but every U8 and U10 team are required to send an adult/parent who has never taken the referee class, to take a referee class, pass the test, and referee AT LEAST ONE game. U8 and U10 teams that do not send a new adult person to take the referee class and referee at least one game will not be allowed to participate in the jamboree or play-offs, whichever is being held for your child's division. The referee staff strongly recommends that each team have AT LEAST THREE referees to help ease the burden of your referee assignments.
Referee Point Requirements
You can check the point status at the referee table, and soon, on line. There is an updated print-out each Saturday. If you took the class to fulfill the requirement (see above – the “get a new referee” section) of sending a new adult to the referee class, please be sure we have your information and which team should be credited. Those points have not yet been added.
U8: Each game, the home team (the team listed first on the schedule) will referee their own game. The away team (the team listed second on the schedule) will provide assistant referees for the match. Each team is expected to have two ADULT referees on their teams to cover their obligations. The referees will receive 2 points each for refereeing and 1 point each for assistant refereeing. The point requirement to advance to the jamboree is 20 points for the season.
U10: A neutral referee will be provided for each game. Each team playing is required to provide an assistant referee for each game. It is recommended that each team have 2 or 3 parent referees to help out. Each team is required to have 36 points by the end of the season in order to advance to play-offs.
U12 - U14: A neutral referee team will be provided for each game. In the event that no-one has signed up to officiate your match, please expect that a parent referee will be required to step up as an assistant referee. Coaches, please remind your parent referees to come prepared with their referee gear so that they are ready if needed. Each team will be required to have 36 points by the end of the season in order to advance to play-offs.
U16 - U19: A neutral referee team will be provided for each game. Please have your parent referees come to the field ready to referee if needed. Each team is required to earn 22 referee points by the end of the season in order to advance to play-offs.
Each team must also be in good standing with the region in order to participate in the jamboree or play-offs.
Referees MUST BE CERTIFIED, REGISTERED and IN UNIFORM in order to receive referee point credit for officiating. If you don't have your uniform with you, please see us at the referee table PRIOR to refereeing so we can make arrangements.
- U8 games are worth 2 points for the referee position and 1 point each for the assistant referee position.
- U10 - U12 games are worth 2 points for both the referee and assistant referee positions.
- U14 - U19 games are worth 3 points for the referee position and 2 points for the assistant referee position.
